Apply for RICA Certification

The RUG Index Certified Appraiser credential is the only qualification that authorizes you to issue official RUG Index certified appraisal reports.

Requirements

To qualify for RICA, you must meet these requirements before applying.

Current USPAP Compliance
Valid USPAP certification is required. If your USPAP is not current, you must renew before applying for RICA.
🪞
Rug Appraisal Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience appraising hand-knotted rugs. Appraising other textiles or decorative arts counts partially.
📄
Sample Appraisal Report
One completed appraisal report you have authored (client info may be redacted for privacy). Used for style and methodology review.
✍️
Professional References
Two professional references from colleagues, clients, or institutions who can speak to your appraisal work.
Fees
Initial certification (includes training + exam)$595
Annual renewal (includes CE credits)$195/yr
