Process

How an estate appraisal works

Our process is designed for attorneys and executors — minimal burden on you, maximum documentation for the court.

Submit Documentation
Use the form below or call us directly. Provide the number of rugs, photos of each piece (front, back, pile detail, selvedge, and any damage) with measurements, and any provenance documentation. We assign a RICA-certified appraiser to the estate.

Remote Examination
Each rug is evaluated from the submitted photos and documentation — origin, age, construction, condition, and market position — per the RUG Index five-pillar protocol. For large estates or high-value collections in the Chicago metro area, in-person inspection can be arranged.

Report Preparation
A full RICA-certified written appraisal report is prepared for each rug — suitable for probate, IRS Form 8283 submission, or equitable distribution. Includes photographs, five-pillar scoring, fair market value, and all value contexts. Signed and sealed by the appraiser.

Reports delivered as certified PDF. We're available for follow-up questions from attorneys, CPAs, or courts. Expert witness testimony available on request.
