Requirements

To qualify for RICA, you must meet these requirements before applying.

Rug Appraisal Experience

Minimum 3 years of Oriental rug evaluation experience, with demonstrated knowledge of rug construction, origin identification, condition assessment, and market valuation.

USPAP or Equivalent Training (Preferred)

USPAP training or equivalent professional appraisal education is preferred but not required. RICA is an independent credential.

📄

Sample Appraisal Report

One completed appraisal report you have authored (client info may be redacted for privacy). Used for style and methodology review.

Professional References

Two professional references from colleagues, clients, or institutions who can speak to your appraisal work.

Fees

Initial certification (includes training + exam)$595

Annual renewal (includes CE credits)$195/yr

Payment is collected after application review and approval. No fee is charged if your application is not approved.
